Reginae Carter, the daughter of the legendary rapper Lil Wayne, has passionately come to her father’s defense in light of online comparisons between him and younger artists.
A tweet by MyMixtapes posed the question, “Who goes harder: Prime Lil Wayne or Current Lil Baby?” By the time Saturday rolled around, the tweet had garnered over 700,000 views and was shared nearly 1,000 times across various social media platforms without proper attribution.
On Friday, Reginae Carter weighed in on the debate, choosing to champion her father’s place in the hip-hop pantheon without uttering a negаtive word about Lil Baby or even mentioning him by nаme. She lightheartedly exclaimed, “Keep my father’s nаme out your mouth” followed by laughing emojis, and continued, “For real, folks, let’s stop comparing my dad to the new kids on the block. Everyone is immensely talented and impressive in their own right. Let them have their moment, and time will ultimately decide their place. But let’s respect the marathon Wayne ran.”
Lil Wayne’s musical journey spans a remarkable 14 albums released between 1999 and 2020, with six earning multi-platinum certifications from the Record Industry Association of America (RIAA) and another three going platinum.
