Phil Mickelson WITB: October 2024

Phil Mickelson is one of the greatest golfers ever to play the game. His swashbuckling style, inventive short game and infectious charm made him a force of nature within the game.

Mickelson, 54, was one of the PGA Tour’s biggest stars for almost 30 years before he made the controversial move to LIV Golf in 2022 for a reported $200m.

During his time on the PGA Tour, Mickelson notched up 45 wins, earning him just shy of $100m in prize money.

The enigmatic lefty also has six majors to his name, three Masters titles, two US PGAs and one Open Championship. Mickelson has also come agonisingly close to completing the career grand slam, finishing 2nd at the US Open on six different occasions.

As a member of Team USA, Mickelson has played in 12 Presidents Cups and 12 Ryder Cups.

Despite being one of the best players of his generation, Mickelson never managed to become the No.1 golfer in the world, primarily due to Tiger Woods’ dominance in the same era.

Since joining LIV and becoming captain of the HyFlyers GC, Mickelson has failed to win a tournament, and has only managed three top 10 finishes in three season, with his best result coming at LIV Jeddah in 2024, where he finished 6th.

Before departing to LIV, Mickelson was a Callaway brand ambassador, and despite no longer being affiliated with the brand, he still uses plenty of its clubs, including a prototype Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond driver and Callaway X Forged Irons.

Interestingly Mickelson has also recently adopted the L.A.B Golf DF3 putter, which has become increasingly popular on Tour since its release earlier this year.
