Edmonton Oilers star Connor McDavid left Monday’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets due to a lower-body injury. After taking the first face-off, McDavid experienced a concerning fall and did not return to the ice.
The club later announced that he would not return for the rest of the game tonight. While the full extent of his injury remains unclear, initial observations raised alarms among fans.

Sports injury expert Dr. Harjas Grewal weighed in on the situation, suggesting that McDavid may have suffered a mild left ankle sprain. Grewal noted:
“No great angle of McDavid injury.Probably a mild left ankle sprain if you made me bet on it but that’s just pattern recognition of prior slides, no video evidence here. Definitely doesn’t look like a broken bone just based on amount of force and him skating after.”

Connor McDavid was on the ice for just 37 seconds in the first period before he left the game. According to TSN’s Ryan Rishaug, early reports indicate that McDavid’s injury is not too serious at this point.

The Oilers eventually suffered a thrashing 6-1 defeat to the Columbus Blue Jackets in the matchup at Nationwide Arena. In the post-game interview, Knoblauch said Connor McDavid will travel back to Edmonton to get evaluated.
