From the filmmakers behind Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey (and its sequel) and the upcoming Bambi: The Reckoning and Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare comes the latest movie in this twisted public domain horror universe, Pinocchio: Unstrung.
Rhys Frake-Waterfield is directing the Pinocchio horror movie for Jagged Edge Productions, and Bloody Disgusting has exclusively been provided with the poster art this week.
ITN Studios and Premiere Entertainment are selling Pinocchio: Unstrung at the Toronto International Film Festival, with a theatrical world wide release planned for sometime in 2025.
Filming begins this October. Stay tuned for more.
Frake-Waterfield tells BD, “The film will embrace practical effects at every opportunity, ranging from the doll itself to the title card of the film. Having a budget significantly higher than my last film, Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2, I’m aiming to make this the definitive Pinocchio horror film and my best movie to date. Exciting cast announcements will follow shortly!”
Makeup FX legend Todd Masters (Child’s Play, Underworld Awakening, Slither) is creating the film’s Pinocchio doll, Bloody Disgusting has also been exclusively informed this week.
The various films in this “Twisted Childhood Universe” are all building towards Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble, which will also feature Pinocchio amongst the deadly gang.
