Tiger Woods and his son Charlie, 15, lost a playoff to Bernhard Langer and his son Jason at the PNC Championship on Sunday.
Bernhard, 67, sank the winning putt to defeat Tiger and Charlie in Florida, but the duo that the crowd so desperately wanted to emerge victorious still had plenty to be positive about.
‘It was awesome, no one made a mistake today. It’s the most fun I’ve ever had,’ Charlie said.
Woods had a sixth surgery on his back in September and speaking Friday, was keen to downplay any hopes anyone had that he and Charlie could be the winners by Sunday night. But for so long on Sunday, it looked like it was written in the stars.
Earlier in the day, Charlie hit his first ever hole-in-one on the par-3 fourth hole, sparking wild celebrations.
The pair were already sitting pretty among the leaders of the tournament when the teenager stepped up to take his tee shot.

Incredibly, it landed a few feet in front of the hole and then bounced straight down the cup – much to the surprise of Charlie himself.
Back on the fourth tee, he looked around in shock, asking whether the ball had gone in. When he was told that it had, dad Tiger was the first on the scene to congratulate him.
The famous pair then had a bear hug on the tee, with Tiger looking delighted at his son’s achievement.
‘That was one of the highlights we have ever had,’ Tiger said. ‘Before that he made his first eagle.
‘It was a dream two hole stretch. As Charlie said, no one made a mistake today.’
As for his overall health for playing golf, Woods tried to cool the excitement over how promising he looked.
‘I’m nowhere near competitive shape, I’m a great scramble partner,’ Woods said.
Shortly after bear-hugging his dad and celebrating in his success, superstar dad Tiger dampened Charlie’s mood with a joke – and a hilarious clip of the moment quickly went viral.

Just off the fourth green when Charlie had collected his ball from the hole, Tiger can be heard telling him: ‘You’re buying for everyone out here’.
In response, Charlie hits back: ‘I’m not buying, I’m broke…’ before Tiger adds: ‘You’re buying. He has to buy. That’s protocol for making a hole-in-one.’
Charlie defiantly repeats: ‘I’m broke’, before Tiger twists the knife with: ‘Round on you, bud.’
Tiger also had his daughter, Sam, as their caddie on Sunday. And despite finishing as runners-up, it promises to be a great night in the clubhouse for the Woods family – so long as Charlie gets the drinks in.
