Jack Smith, who played the bigoted yet humorous Eddie Booth, was 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 in 1932 and continued his acting career in British television until his death in February 2022 at the age of 89. Rudolph Walker, 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 in 1939, portrayed Bill Reynolds, Eddie’s educated Jamaican neighbor. Renowned for his wit and calm demeanor in the face of Eddie’s bigotry, Walker’s career flourished post-series with roles in major productions like “EastEnders.” As of 2025, he remains active at 85, advocating for diversity in media.

Harry Littlewood, who played the workplace foreman, passed away in 2003 at the age of 82. Paul Luty, known for his role as Nobby Garside, died in 1985 at 52, while Tommy Godfrey, who added comic relief as Arthur, also passed away in the ’80s at 68.

The talented Dick Bentley and David Lodge, who played pivotal roles as the Vicar and Mr. Baxter respectively, both left us in the early 2000s. Their contributions to British comedy remain cherished. Other cast members, including Kate Williams and Nina Bon Sea, have continued to influence the arts, with Williams retired and Bon Sea still celebrated for her vibrant roles.
