Fear Street: Prom Queen (2025) – First Trailer Unleashes Jenna Ortega in Blood-Soaked Return to Shadyside

Shadyside bleeds again.

Netflix has officially released the first trailer for Fear Street: Prom Queen (2025), the newest chapter in R.L. Stine’s chilling Fear Street saga, with Jenna Ortega headlining the cast in a haunting, blood-slicked descent into high school horror. Set in the cursed town of Shadyside, the trailer promises a terrifying new mystery where the most glamorous night of the year becomes a fight for survival.

The trailer opens with dreamy prom preparations at Shadyside High: glitter, gowns, and glamour. But the mood quickly turns sinister when a masked figure is seen lurking behind lockers, and a scream pierces through the hallway. As prom queen nominees begin to mysteriously disappear, it’s clear something ancient has awakened.

Ortega plays Lizzy McConnell, a sharp-witted outsider who’s reluctantly nominated for prom queen—only to find herself at the center of a deadly tradition. In one tense moment from the trailer, Lizzy stares into a shattered mirror, whispering: “It’s not about who wins. It’s about who survives.”

Trailer highlights include:

  • A high school gym bathed in red lights, with bloody footprints leading across the dance floor.

  • A prom dress hanging from the ceiling—dripping with blood instead of sequins.

  • Flashbacks to a 1958 tragedy at the same prom, suggesting the curse is cyclical.

  • The masked 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁er, known only as The Corsage, wielding a rusted crown pin as their weapon of choice.

Directed by Leigh Janiak, who returns to the franchise after the wildly successful Fear Street Trilogy in 2021, Prom Queen is based on one of the most iconic books in the series and blends slasher horror with supernatural suspense.

The film’s tagline? “Some dreams are worth dying for.”

Jenna Ortega, fresh off her horror acclaim in Scream and Wednesday, told fans at a recent press event: “Fear Street is bold, bloody, and brutally fun. This time, prom night is the real nightmare.”

Fear Street: Prom Queen is set to premiere globally on Netflix, October 11, 2025, just in time for a Halloween season drenched in nostalgia and new terror.
