Hitman (2025) – First Trailer | Jason Statham Brings Cold Precision to Universal’s Action Reboot

Los Angeles, May 19, 2025 — Universal Pictures has officially released the first trailer for Hitman (2025), a bold new reboot of the iconic assassin franchise — and this time, it’s Jason Statham in the role of Agent 47. With his signature stoicism, surgical precision, and bone-crunching combat, Statham reinvents the deadly barcode-marked 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁er in what’s being described as a gritty, high-octane thriller for a new generation.

The trailer opens with a voiceover from Statham’s Agent 47: “People call me a ghost. But ghosts don’t bleed.”

Set to a pounding industrial score, the footage flashes through neon-soaked European cityscapes, sleek hotel assassinations, explosive chases, and cold, calculated takedowns — all wrapped in a grim, stylish tone that echoes the franchise’s roots in stealth and silence.

Unlike past versions, this reboot dives deeper into the character’s backstory. Raised as part of a brutal genetic experiment by the ICA (International Contract Agency), 47 is now hunted by the very people who trained him — and drawn into a global conspiracy when he refuses to carry out a contract on a mysterious civilian played by Naomi Scott, who may hold the key to unraveling the agency’s darkest secrets.

Directed by Chad Stahelski (John Wick), the film promises relentless action and hand-to-hand choreography, with Statham performing most of his own stunts. The trailer teases tactical espionage, sniper duels, and stylish shootouts — including a standout sequence where 47 dismantles a convoy using only a fiber wire and silence.

In an interview, Statham remarked: “This version of 47 isn’t a video game character. He’s a man with nothing left but precision and revenge.”

Also starring Giancarlo Esposito as the ruthless head of the ICA and Rina Sawayama as a rival assassin with a vendetta, Hitman is positioned as Universal’s next big action saga.

Hitman (2025) is slated to hit theaters globally on September 12, 2025, with IMAX and Dolby Cinema formats confirmed.
