Liverpool and Barcelona Agree to Shocking Swap Deal: Luis Diaz for Raphinha Confirmed!

In one of the most unexpected moves of the summer, Liverpool and Barcelona have agreed to a sensational player swap deal involving Luis Diaz and Raphinha, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

🗣️ “Here we go! Luis Diaz has agreed personal terms with Barcelona, and Liverpool are now finalizing a direct player exchange with Barça for Raphinha,” Romano revealed on X. “A straight swap deal with no major fee involved — both clubs view this as a strategic win for their tactical needs.”

Luis Diaz has reportedly rejected multiple contract extension offers from Liverpool and even turned down lucrative bids from Saudi Arabian clubs, making it clear that his heart is set on a move to Barcelona. The Colombian winger sees the Catalan giants as his next big step and has already agreed personal terms, as confirmed by Mundo Deportivo.

From Barcelona’s side, sporting director Deco and new coach Hansi Flick have identified Diaz as their top target to reinforce the left wing — a position of priority this summer. Although stars like Nico Williams and Marcus Rashford were also considered, Diaz emerged as the most viable and exciting option.

Meanwhile, Liverpool, who are pursuing a blockbuster deal for Florian Wirtz worth up to €130 million, are looking to rebalance their books. The Reds reportedly valued Diaz at around €85 million, and rather than demanding a cash sum, they saw an opportunity in Barcelona’s out-of-favor Brazilian winger Raphinha.

Raphinha, who previously shined at Leeds United before moving to Barça, has struggled for consistency and minutes under both Xavi and Flick. Returning to the Premier League could reignite his form, and Liverpool believe his direct style, work rate, and left-footed threat make him a perfect fit for Arne Slot’s new system.

Luis Diaz, on the other hand, has scored 41 goals in 148 appearances for Liverpool and played a pivotal role in winning the Premier League, FA Cup, and two Carabao Cups. His move to Barcelona is expected to bring more explosiveness and flair to the Camp Nou flanks — especially with Ousmane Dembélé having departed and Joao Felix’s future still uncertain.

🗣️ Luis Diaz reportedly told his close circle: “I’ve given everything at Liverpool, and now I dream of following in the footsteps of idols at Camp Nou. I hope the clubs can finish the deal quickly.”

The swap deal is expected to be finalized in the coming days, pending medicals and final contract signings. If successful, it will be one of the most talked-about exchanges in recent transfer history.
