Directed by Oz Perkins (I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House), this long-awaited sequel brings us back to the mysterious Louisiana bayou, where secrets, spells, and spirits still fester in the decaying mansions of the Deep South.
Plot Preview Ortega plays Lena, a skeptical NYU anthropology student drawn to New Orleans after discovering her recently deceased grandmother was once the caretaker of the infamous Devereaux plantation. There, she crosses paths with Caroline Ellis (Kate Hudson, reprising her role), now living in isolation and consumed by the horrors of her past.
The teaser trailer is pure atmosphere—slow, creeping dread, whispers in empty hallways, mirrors covered with sheets, and doors that close on their own. Lena’s voice narrates: “I don’t believe in hoodoo… but it believes in me.”
As Caroline tries to warn her, the spirits that once haunted the house seem to have found a new vessel—one younger, more powerful, and far more dangerous.
The Skeleton Key 2 is produced by Universal Pictures and Blumhouse, and is set to hit theaters on September 19, 2025. The film promises a return to practical scares, Southern mysticism, and psychological horror with a fresh modern edge.
