In a heartwarming turn of events that has stunned the motorsport world, seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton has officially adopted a young Black boy who had been living on the streets despite his deep passion for racing.
The boy, whose name is being kept private for now, had caught Hamilton’s attention after a viral video showed him sketching F1 cars from memory outside a public library, using scraps of paper as his canvas. The video moved Hamilton so deeply that he personally reached out to track the boy down.
“This young man reminded me of myself — the same dream, the same fire, just without the support system,” Hamilton told reporters. “I knew I had to do something.”
Hamilton not only offered him a home but also announced he is officially adopting him as his own son, stating: “He deserves a future as bright as his dreams. From today, he’s family.”
To celebrate, Hamilton flew the boy to Italy for a private tour of Ferrari’s iconic Maranello headquarters. Staff members looked on emotionally as Hamilton led the 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 by the hand through the factory floors and historic displays.
The most unforgettable moment came when Hamilton let the boy ride shotgun in a bright red Ferrari SF90, driving him around Ferrari’s private Fiorano test track.
Witnesses said the boy was “beaming with joy and awe,” and many Ferrari employees were left in tears.
Hamilton added: “I want him to see that dreams do come true, no matter where you come from. Today, this is his home too.”
Fans around the world have flooded social media with praise for the gesture, calling it one of the most touching stories in F1’s modern history.
