Charlie Woods did not make the cut at the U.S. Junior Amateur after his father, Tiger Woods, watched his meltdown in the first round.

The younger Woods’s less-than-stellar outing at the U.S. Junior Amateur came after the young star won the Team TaylorMade Invitational in late May 2025. From that point, it appeared as if Charlie Woods would be making his way to golf stardom despite his young age.

However, his journey to stardom will feature bumps in the road, with him missing the cut being one of them. After posting 81 in the first round, the 16-year-old followed that up with 74 in the second round, an improvement from the day prior, but it was not enough.

As of writing, Charlie Woods finished T196 out of a field of 264 competitors. That said, the younger Woods missed out on his opportunity to join the 64 best young golfers in the world for a chance to cement themselves as among the brightest stars in the sport.

Of note, Tiger Woods won the tournament three times in 1991, 1992, and 1993. Still, considering his success, Woods Sr. attempted to impart some of his wisdom on how to properly approach different courses, but his son was overheard not wanting to hear anything his father wanted to say.

After sinking a lung putt during the 47th Junior North & South Amateur at Pinehurst Resort, Charlie Woods was overheard jokingly telling his father: “I don’t want to hear it.” In turn, the elder Woods laughed and replied to his son: “Good putt.”

Though the two were able to share a laugh, fans believe that the younger Woods is bearing too much weight of having to live up to the expectations set by sharing his last name with one of the best golfers in history.

One fan wrote on social media: “No disrespect to the kid, but I just have this feeling that if he does make it to the pro tour he’s gonna be an average pro.” Another added: “He is absolutely over rated. Got the vibe because his father. STOP IT!” One more wrote: “Too much to live up to. Not gonna happen.”

As Charlie Woods continues to make his own name in golf, his father is currently recovering from an Achilles injury he sustained as he attempted to ramp his workouts back to their usual state and regain his fitness after a less-than-optimal year in 2024.

In March, the golf legend released a statement on social media, revealing that he suffered an Achilles injury, with additional testing uncovering a torn left tendon.

“As I began to ramp up my own training and practice at home, I felt a sharp pain in my left Achilles, which was deemed to be ruptured,” he wrote at the time.

“This morning, Dr. Charlton Stucken of Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach, Florida performed a minimally-invasive Achilles tendon repair for a ruptured tendon. ‘The surgery went smoothly, and we expect a full recovery,’ added Dr. Stucken.

“I am back home now and plan to focus on my recovery and rehab, thank you for all the support.”
