At Society, Jack and Diane are shocked when their son announces he wants to propose to Claire today.
They love Claire but think this is reactive. It might seem manipulative.
Kyle thought they would be happy and says it’s the right moment. Jack asks if he would be planning this without the fight over Audra.
None of this occurred to Kyle and he’s totally baffled by the suggestion. He feels stupid for not proposing sooner.
Diane suggests he plan it like an event. Kyle has already arranged to meet with the jeweller and tells them not to worry.
As he takes off, Billy arrives, eager to discuss Cane. They talk about how untrustworthy he is.
Billy says he’s flipped the script.
Jack says it was insane to start with. His brother says Billy has an unstoppable vibe and he has Phyllis behind it.
Diane says she’s the ultimate red flag.
Billy explains that Cane has claimed he’s dropping his plan to go after all the companies. He seems to bring things up and drop them.
After Diane takes off, Jack and his brother mull things over. Billy doesn’t think they can rely on Cane backing down.
He vents about Jill being okay with all this. He wants Chancellor back more than ever and nothing will stop him.
Jack can’t encourage him to cut Nikki down. Billy isn’t asking his blessing. He just wants him to stay out of the way.
At the new ranch, Nikki and Claire are talking about work. Nikki worries that she’s working too hard to avoid he heartache.
Claire doesn’t want to dwell on that. Nikki says she’s just like her mother.
Claire admits she doesn’t know how to process her trust issues with Kyle. Their relationship isn’t what she thought it was.
How is she supposed to not split up with him? Her grandma urges her to take her time to make a decision.
That’s why Claire wants to concentrate on work. She’s behind the curve on this romantic stuff and needs to deal with it on her own.
Nikki tries rationalizing what Kyle did and suggests he was only trying to protect her.
Not knowing the truth is a deal-breaker for Claire. She loves him and believes he loves her.
Nikki urges her to take her time making her choice about what’s next.
They have tea talk about handling things with grace. Claire admits she was raised on lies and Kyle lying to her brought that back up.
She worries she may have to forgive the same deception for decades. Nikki says it is a dilemma. She still wouldn’t give up her decades with Victor.
Again, she urges her not to make any snap decisions.
They talk about what a great job Claire has done in the office. Nikki thinks it’s time for her to climb the ladder.
Claire is happy to learn from her and her grandma says she still will. They are folding Newman Publishing into Chancellor and want her to work there.
“Like my dad,” Claire says. She knows how much he loved it and promises to learn all she can.
Nikki is sure Victor will be pleased and tells her they will always help her achieve things.
Diane and Nikki groan when they run into each other in the park. They immediately start bickering about what Victor did to Kyle and Claire.
Nikki is sure that Claire will get past Kyle’s dishonesty if he’s delicate and patient with her.
At the Abbott house, Kyle picks a ring from Blaire the jeweler and sends her off.
Kyle runs into Claire at Crimson Lights. He can see she’s still upset with him and he’s sorry for that.
He asks her to have dinner so they can talk through everything. He only feels right when he is with her.
They have come so far and he wants to make up for his mistakes. She doesn’t know what will make her feel okay.
Kyle wants to give her love and happiness.
He hopes that being together will help them recharge. He offers her dinner at his place so they won’t be interrupted. She agrees to that.
Phyllis strides into the train car and complains to Cane about their being no hot water in her suite.
She hopes he’s changed his mind about 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁ing his plan. He says it’s done. Phyllis refuses to accept that.
This was supposed to be her path to great success. She demands to make him make this make sense.
Cane says his top priority needs to be fixing things with his family.
She interprets this as meaning that he is only putting the plan on hold. She tells him not to sit on his hands while he waits for them to come around.
He needs to keep busy by moving on with his plans. Cane doesn’t want to risk losing his kids forever.
Phyllis tells him to be dad and home and Dumas at work. She’s sure the kids will get it eventually.
Cane is sorry he’s let her down but this is final. She blurts out that she can’t move on.
He offers to make some calls for her but she refuses, insisting this is the job for her.
She’s been doing a deep dive into all the corporations’ financials and can run with it if he gives her the go-ahead. She’s happy to be the vulture and he can stay a saint.
“Hand me the secret weapon and I will conquer the world,” she says.
Phyllis assumes AI is his secret weapon and offers to run with it. The groundwork is all set and it will be easy.
She needs him to let her in on his plan.
Phyllis keeps assuring him his kids will come around and offers to take all the heat. He can’t give her an answer right now.
She tells him not to take too long.
Amanda shows up. Phyllis suggests she talk some sense into Cane.
Once Phyllis exits, Amanda guesses he told her no takeover. “Is it true?” she asks. He chuckles.
She says going after Winters won’t make things better with his family. He’s sure he can handle that.
Amanda worries that backing down on the rest will make him look weak. He’s hoping Phyllis and Billy will spread the news he’s backing off.
Once the spotlight is off him, he can make his move, and it will be one no one expects.

Claire’s breathless as Kyle opens the ring box for her on his knees.
“The truth, Audra…that is all I ask,” Nate says.
Shaking her head, Audra responds, “I did it. I agreed to Victor’s quid pro quo. I went after Kyle so I could get what I want.”
“Well, you’re the one always surprising me and lavishing me with gifts, so I thought it was your turn to be surprised and spoiled. Let me remind you how much I adore you,” Nikki tells smiling Victor.
