What’s New? So Glad You Asked!

The Young and the Restless’ Victor Newman had better hang onto his iconic mustache, because a whole lotta other things about the show are about to change — and fast, too. Read on for a rundown of the details about the revamps that the Genoa City-set soap is set to undergo this fall.

The Ol’ Switcheroo

You already know that Young & Restless is pulling a sorta star swap with Days of Our Lives. The former show recruited Billy Flynn to play the recast Cane Ashby and the latter? It’s getting Conner Floyd, who was recently 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁ed off as Chance Chancellor, to take over Flynn’s role of Chad DiMera.

In late August, the news broke that Emmy winner Tamara Braun, late of Days of Our Lives (as Ava Vitali), All My Children (as Reese Williams) and General Hospital (as Carly Spencer) was moving to Young & Restless as Sienna Bacall, who is said to have “personal connections” to several characters. Which ones?

Our hunch is that Sienna will turn out to be someone with whom Cane was involved in his years away from Genoa City. But we’d bet a month’s worth of lunch money that her future romantic interest is none other than Nicholas Newman. (Sorry, Sharon!)

Shortly after Braun’s hiring was made public, we learned that she wasn’t Young & Restless’ only new cast addition. Fellow Emmy winner Roger Howarth, whose resume includes everything from Loving to As the World Turns to One Life to Live to General Hospital, had been signed up to play a mystery man.

We suspect that Howarth will turn out to be playing one of two characters: either a recast of Tucker McCall (since Trevor St. John once replaced him as “Todd Manning” on One Life to Live) or Daniel Romalotti’s long-lost biological father. But wait, there’s more!

Though Young & Restless did next to nothing with “Shick’s” son Noah Newman when it had Rory Gibson (now Michael, General Hospital) in the part, it’s bringing the character back with Lucas Adams (ex-Tripp, Days of Our Lives) in the role. Erm… why? We have an idea about that!

Young & Restless made a point of telling us how hot and heavy Noah and Audra Charles had once been… but the show never really played on that chemistry. Perhaps with her now at loose ends and him getting a new portrayer, we’ll get some sparks?

While all of this is going on, Daniel’s crush on Tessa Porter is only intensifying. Is he just setting himself up for heartbreak… especially since Mariah Copeland is about to make a confession that we can only hope will get her marriage off of life support?

Kyle Abbott still thinks that he can worm his way back into Claire Grace’s good, um, graces. But let’s be real. The die is cast. Whether she sleeps with hottie Holden Novak this week, next week or a month from now, that ’ship is setting sail!

Last but not least, Matt Cohen, formerly Griffin Munro on General Hospital, has been added to Young & Restless’ roster as Detective Burrows, who will be investigating a big case involving a whole host of Genoa City’s power players. (Then again, does the show have any non-power players?)

Though no one actually made an attempt on Cane’s life in Nice — as he told Chance he expected someone to — an assailant could still try to take out the erstwhile Aristotle Dumas. Perhaps that’s the case that Burrows will be investigating.
