Latto appears to be making it clear that she’s not interested in burying the hatchet with Cardi B anytime soon. Despite Cardi previously apologizing for comments made during a ๐ต๐ฎ๐ช๐ด๐ฎ๐ญ phone call, the Atlanta rapper seems to have responded directly on her new album โ and fans are convinced the shots are aimed straight at Cardi.
The latest chapter in the ongoing tension comes from Latto’s new track, “Gimme Dat,” where she delivers a series of bars that listeners believe reference Cardi B and last year’s ๐ฟ๐พ๐๐ถ๐ controversy.
On the song, Latto raps: “Bitch said what? Let’s clock it / Really got a Hermes store in my closet / Talkin’ ’bout buyin’ big mama a bag like my n*** ain’t already bought it.”*
Many fans immediately connected the lyrics to a ๐ต๐ฎ๐ช๐ด๐ฎ๐ญ phone conversation involving Cardi B and Ice Spice’s manager. During the call, Cardi allegedly threatened to confront Ice Spice and, in the middle of her rant, referenced Latto by saying, “You think I’m fing py-ass Latto?”
The comment quickly spread across social media, putting Latto’s name in the middle of a dispute she wasn’t directly involved in.
At the time, Cardi moved quickly to address the backlash. The Bronx superstar publicly apologized, explaining that she had been emotional and speaking out of anger. She emphasized that she respected Latto and her team and did not intend for the comments to become public.
But if Latto’s new lyrics are any indication, the apology may not have fully repaired the damage.
The track includes another line that fans believe is aimed at Cardi: “Wish a bitch would get in that booth / I’m callin’ up PlaqueBoyMax.”

The mention of popular streamer PlaqueBoyMax ๐๐๐๐ฐ๐๐ attention because Cardi B has publicly acknowledged him before, including during this year’s Super Bowl festivities.
What makes the situation even more surprising is that Latto previously spoke positively about Cardi. During an interview just before the ๐ต๐ฎ๐ช๐ด๐ฎ๐ญ phone call surfaced, she had nothing but praise for the Grammy-winning rapper. Now, however, fans believe her tone has changed ๐น๐๐ถ๐๐ถ๐๐พ๐ธ๐ถ๐๐๐.
While the apparent Cardi references are generating headlines, Latto also gave fans something much more personal on the album.
On the track “Mama,” the rapper seemingly revealed the gender of her unborn child, rapping:
“Can’t believe my life right now, I feel on top of the world / Should’ve seen my face when they told me it’s a baby girl.”
The lyric has fueled speculation that Latto is expecting a daughter, though she has not publicly elaborated beyond the song itself.
As reactions continue to pour in online, fans remain divided. Some believe Latto has every right to address a public insult through her music, while others argue that Cardi’s apology should have ended the controversy long ago.
One thing is clear: if fans thought the tension between Cardi B and Latto was completely resolved, “Gimme Dat” suggests there may still be unresolved feelings behind the scenes.
