A Miracle at 72: Thought to Be Infertile, Woman Welcomes Her First Child and Embraces the Joy of Motherhood

On April 19, 2016, Mrs. Daljinder Kaur, then 72 years old, gave 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡 to her first son. Although she has to cope with old age diseases such as high blood pressure and joint pain, she is still very lucky to be able to give 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡 to her first son. Armaan, her son, now started crawling and suckling milk when he was only 3 months old.

“My blood pressure is not stable, my body gets tired easily. I went to several doctors but they only gave me medicine and diet instructions. I have to take care of my health to be able to take care of his dog,” the elderly mother shared. She added: ‘When he was crawling, my joints and legs were difficult to move, holding him was harder than I thought.

Armaan is the only son after 46 years of marriage to Mr. Mohinder Singh Gill. Mr. Mohinder is also 80 years old now. They had this son after applying in vitro fertilization (IVF). At 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡, the boy weighed just over 1.36 kg but now weighs nearly 7 kg. “He’s underweight, he’s pretty skinny, and even diapers for kids his age don’t fit,” she said.

According to her, the reason may be because she weaned too early. She went to the doctor to find a way to gain weight for the 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦, but the doctors advised her son to gain weight naturally.Despite having many difficulties in taking care of their 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren because of their old age and weak health, both grandparents never regretted their decision to give 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡 to Armaan.

The elderly mother shared: “Even though I was tired, when I saw the cow crawling towards me, I felt very in love with it. Armaan is a friendly, smiling kid. That’s why we don’t want to bother or hire a 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦sitter. When I cook, do housework, my husband will 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦 it. We will try and learn how to take care of our own 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren.”

Daljinder Kaur is not the first person in the world to give 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡 at such a “closer to the earth” age.

Rajo Devi Lohan, also from India, gave 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡 in 2008 at the age of 70 and was the oldest mother in the world at the time. Another case is Anatolia Vertadella, an Italian woman who gave 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡 to her 17th 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 at the age of 101 thanks to an ovarian transplant in Turkey. What miracles from medicine and from the hearts of mothers.
