Football fans are struggling to take the Saudi Pro League seriously after a clip emerged of an Al-Nassr player trying to find the target from range
Abdulmajeed Al-Sulaiheem’s effort will have landed in row Z – if he’s lucky
The Saudi Pro League has been mocked after a clip showing one of Cristiano Ronaldo’s team-mates went viral.
There’s been a whole host of big names heading to the Middle East so far this summer for outrageously large contracts such as the £700k-a-week deal Jordan Henderson has signed at Al-Ettifaq.
It looks like they’re going to have to do a lot of the heavy lifting next season if footage from Al-Nassr’s 2-1 league win over Abha back in March is anything to go by.
It showed midfielder Abdulmajeed Al-Sulaiheem taking a shot from range which went high and wide – to say the least. One footy fan joked: “Saudi league is going to need a lot more players.”
A second argued: “In short, I can play in the Saudi Pro League.” A third exclaimed: “These are the guys Ronaldo has to play with??” And a fourth tweeted: “This guy is probably the owner’s son or something, no way man.”
Others found themselves laughing at Ronaldo’s reaction. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner placed his hands of his hips and looked down to the ground.
“Spot Ronaldo after he played that nonsense,” commented one. Another wrote: “The way Ronaldo put his hands on his waist after the pass.. I’m in tears mannn.”
Ronaldo was in disbelief at his team-mates balloon shot
“’European football lost its quality’,” sarcastically posted one who was referencing Ronaldo’s recent comments when he said: “European football has lost a lot of quality.
“The only valid one and still doing good is the (English) Premier League. They’re way ahead of all the other leagues.”
Another fan asked: “Cristiano was it really worth it?” And one quipped: “Top three league in the world?”
