It’s a perfect match! Blumhouse, famous for its low-budget horror hits, is taking on the legendary Blair Witch Project, which was made on a shoestring budget and became one of the most profitable films ever. Known for terrifying franchises like Paranormal Activity and The Purge, as well as newer sensations like M3GAN and Five Nights at Freddy’s, Blumhouse has grossed nearly $6 billion worldwide while keeping production costs low.
Though plot details remain under wraps, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group’s Adam Fogelson teased a “new vision for Blair Witch that will reintroduce this horror classic to a new generation.” The announcement came at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, where it was revealed that this film is the first in a multi-picture deal between Blumhouse and Lionsgate, aimed at reimagining horror classics. Their recent collaboration, Imaginary, a thriller about a sinister teddy bear, shows just how chilling their partnership can be.
