General Hospital fans are reeling after Thursday’s episode saw the deaths of Jason Morgan and Britt Westbourne in a single violent confrontation on Mount Emerson—and the person holding the gun was Anna Devane, a character long portrayed as one of the show’s heroes. The scene has sparked intense debate among viewers about whether Anna’s actions can be excused by the psychological torture she endured at the hands of former WSB director Ross Cullum. According to the events depicted on screen, Anna lured Britt to the remote mountain location under the pretense of providing closure about her father, Cesar Faison’s, remains. Instead, Britt walked into a trap.
Anna, appearing detached from reality and guided by hallucinations of the deceased Peter August, aimed a loaded weapon at Britt. Jason, who had recently returned to Port Charles after surviving a brutal WSB black site in Jakarta, rushed to the scene in an attempt to disarm Anna and save Britt.
